L: Εντυπώσεις από τις Προβολές στο Sundance

Μπορεί η πρώτη μεγάλη μήκους ταινία του Μπάμπη Μακρίδη (και πρώτη συμμετοχή Ελληνικής ταινίας στο διαγωνιστικό τμήμα) να μην έφυγε με κάποιο βραβείο από το φεστιβάλ του Sundance, αυτό όμως δεν σημαίνει ότι δεν προκάλεσε και μια κάποια σχετική αίσθηση. William Goss (indiewire): Α deadpan mid-life crisis endurance test and a distinct disappointment. I'm tempted to play the "should have been a short" card

Γιώργος Κρασσακόπουλος (Flix): Τα όσα συμβαίνουν στο «L» θα μπορούσαν να είναι βγαλμένα από μια σαπουνόπερα ή από μια αρχαία τραγωδία, μόνο που ο τρόπος που συνθέτονται σε αφήγηση εδώ, δεν τους επιτρέπει να κρατήσουν τίποτα από την τετριμμένη φύση του πρώτου, ούτε από την πομπώδη δραματικότητα του δεύτερου. Το «L»μιλά μια απόλυτα δική του γλώσσα, με κανόνες και εκφορά που δεν μοιάζει με τίποτα απ όσα ξέρατε μέχρι σήμερα.

John DeFore (The Hollywood Reporter): A dry-as-dirt Greek allegory about mechanized transportation -- or is it about bears and whole-food diets? -- Babis Makridis's L will surely click with some devotees of difficult art cinema but will strike most as a largely unrewarding, if skillfully made, endurance test.

Andy Motz (The Alternative Chronicle): L is certainly one of the most divisive films at Sundance this year. It’s bizarre. It’s creative. It’s intellectually engaging. It’s difficult. It’s aesthetically astounding. And it’s brilliant.

Robert Koehler (Variety): The original films in Sundance? Not a long list: Dupieux's WRONG, Makridis' L, Ascher's ROOM 237.

William Trowbridge: L was a pretty bizarre film as I expected but the camera work was good enough so I forgot the misgivings of the story.

Reuben Baird: L was super damn strange. Films like that are arguably the best thing about sundance.

Emily Sloan-Pace: If Waiting for Godot was turned into a road trip film, the result would be L.

Corey Parsons: If the length of a movie title referred to the amount of action and dialogue, "L" would be the perfect example.

James Merrill: L was sort of like a Greek version of Drive or Taxi Driver only a whole lot funnier and a whole lot weirder.

Sky Hirschkron: L (Makridis): [C+] Lanthimos meets "Tom Goes to the Mayor". A certain formal integrity, and morbid stuff is especially effective, but I was lost.

Ben Jones: When I grow up, I would like to be a Greek filmmaker. I'll be musing on L among several other recent Greek films for a while.
